Chairmanship of Finance Montréal’s Board of Directors: Mathieu Talbot Succeeds Nicolas Patard

Montréal, June 3, 2025 – Finance Montréal is pleased to announce the appointment of Mathieu Talbot, Vice-President, Business Services and Corporate Banking at Desjardins Group, as the new Chair of its Board of Directors. Mr. Talbot succeeds Nicolas Patard, Executive Vice-President and Head of Financial Products at National Bank of Canada, who had held the position since May 2018.

“Since its creation in 2010, Finance Montréal has become a key hub where financial sector stakeholders join forces to showcase the industry’s competitiveness and support its growth. It is a privilege to take on the role of Chair at such a pivotal moment, as the Station Fintech prepares to welcome even more start-ups, and as Montréal distinguishes itself as North America’s leading green financial center. I thank the Board members for their trust and am committed to continuing, with ambition and discipline, our mission to position Quebec as a globally recognized, innovative financial ecosystem,” said Mathieu Talbot.

The Board of Directors would like to acknowledge the significant contribution of Nicolas Patard, who served as Chair for seven consecutive years. Mr. Patard will continue to support the organization over the next twelve months in the role of Retiring Chair, ensuring a smooth and orderly transition.

“It has been an honour to serve as Chair of the Board of Finance Montréal and to help guide our sectorial cluster through seven years of growth and innovation. From launching the Station Fintech to advancing sustainable finance, from creating our Youth Committee to welcoming international firms, I’ve had the privilege of witnessing Quebec’s financial industry steadily gaining global influence. I extend my sincere thanks to the Governors, my fellow Board members, and the entire Finance Montréal team for their steadfast commitment. With Mathieu stepping in, I’m confident our cluster is in good hands, and I look forward with great enthusiasm to the years ahead. As Retiring Chair, I’ll continue to support our collective momentum to the best of my ability,” added Nicolas Patard.
