Each year, Finance Montréal organizes the Best Sustainability Report Competition in collaboration with Quebec universities — a unique initiative at the crossroads of ESG analysis, practical learning, and recognition of excellence in sustainability disclosure.

Launched each fall, the competition mobilizes teams of university student who spend several months evaluating sustainability reports from Canadian public companies in a specific sector. Using a rigorous analysis grid developed in partnership with extra-financial disclosure specialists, participants evaluate the reports based on key criteria such as:
Teams are supported throughout the process by university faculty members, who guide them in developing analytical, strategic, and communication skills.

Companies whose reports are analyzed benefit from an insightful external perspective and structured feedback on their sustainability disclosure practices.
