15 years of collective action for an innovative and sustainable financial hub

In 2025, Finance Montréal proudly celebrates 15 years of impact in service of Quebec’s financial industry.

Established in 2010 at the initiative of Quebec’s ministère des Finances, with the support of key ecosystem players, the cluster quickly positioned itself as a hub for collaboration and development in the financial sector. Its creation reflected a clear ambition: to strengthen a strategic pillar of our economy by uniting private, public, academic, and civil society stakeholders around a shared vision.

A shared ambition driving progress

Since its inception, Finance Montréal has pursued a clear mission: to enhance the positioning of Montréal and Quebec as world-class financial centers. Backed by governments and industry leaders, the cluster now serves as a catalyst for economic development, innovation, and global attractiveness.

Our community brings together more than 60 member organizations. Together, we are advancing sustainable finance, supporting emerging talent, accelerating technological innovation, and positioning Montréal as an internationally-oriented center of financial expertise.

In this regard, the Station Fintech Montréal plays a pivotal role. Now home to over 35 start-ups, it is the largest fintech hub in Canada. A true collaboration hub, the Station facilitates connections between emerging companies, investors, and established institutions, offering a structured environment to accelerate growth and integration into the financial ecosystem.

According to the latest Global Green Finance Index (GGFI), Montréal ranks first in North America for sustainable finance – a testament to the collective commitment of our ecosystem and the city’s growing leadership in the green transition.

A lasting impact for the entire ecosystem

Over the past 15 years, Finance Montréal has launched several flagship initiatives, including the Canada Fintech Forum, the Sustainable Finance Summit (whose fifth edition set new records), the first-ever sectoral portrait of diversity (released in 2023), and Quebec’s Sustainable Finance Roadmap, the product of the collaboration of more than 100 organizations. This roadmap has already positioned Quebec as a leading jurisdiction in structured industry engagement.

In 2025, the cluster continues its momentum with the expansion of the Fintech Station and the launch of a collective communications campaign to reshape the image of the financial industry and inspire career choices among students and career changers, set to debut this fall.

Looking ahead

To mark this 15th anniversary, beginning in September, we will be sharing a series of stories that will highlight the defining moments of our organization and the invaluable contributions of our members and partners.

To everyone who, since 2010, has helped make Quebec and its metropolis a financial hub that is innovative, inclusive, and forward-looking: thank you. It is with ambition and enthusiasm that we look forward to the next 15 years.
