Blue Finance investor Capacity Building: Understanding Ocean-Related Risks and Opportunities

** Please note that this event will be held in English only **

As global attention increasingly turns to ocean-related risks and opportunities, investors are beginning to recognise the importance of the blue economy within sustainability, risk management, and long-term value creation strategies.

Taking place alongside the World Ocean Summit (WOS) in Montréal on March 4-5, 2026, this OFF event of the Sustainable Finance Summit is designed as a practical, investor-focused capacity-building session for Canadian and international investors who are at an early stage of engaging with ocean sustainability.

Co-hosted by Finance Montréal, and featuring global experts from CDP (Carbon Disclosure Project) and the FAIRR Initiative (Farm Animal Investment Risk and Return Initiative), the session will explore how existing sustainability tools, data, and frameworks can be leveraged to better understand and manage ocean-related risks and opportunities across investment portfolios.

The discussion will introduce two key global initiatives shaping investor understanding of ocean sustainability:

  • CDP’s upcoming Ocean Questionnaire, designed to enhance corporate disclosure on ocean-related impacts, risks, and dependencies;
  • FAIRR’s forthcoming Seafood Index, which synthesises data — including CDP disclosures — into decision-useful insights on company preparedness and exposure across seafood value chains.

Participate in this practical session to integrate ocean sustainability into your investment analysis, stewardship, and decision-making processes.
