Montréal recognized four times by the 2013 Society Excellence Awards Program
The CFA Institute Society Excellence Awards Program was established in 2006 to recognize and reward the efforts of individual societies or societies in partnership with one another in their operations and the delivery of value to the investment professionals they represent.
The 2013 Education Award recognized CFA Society Montréal for its outstanding achievements in delivering value to its members, as well as to investors, through excellent educational initiatives. The Montréal organization received the award for restructuring its educational programs and long-term strategic plan, with a renewed approach to the delivery of educational events, such as topical seminars and world renowned speakers. The society incorporated strategic planning to create new programs on a variety of topics, while targeting a broader audience, focusing on career and attempting to draw in newer practitioners.
The 2013 Collaboration Award was given to the 12 Canadian societies, which took on two collaborative initiatives, including a National Strategic Plan to leverage each other’s operational strengths and the Canadian Program. The latter program provides members with discounted member rates for programming anywhere they wish to participate in Canada. The National Strategic Plan was the outstanding result of collaboration between societies to align strategy, enhance member value, and promote societies’ benefits in order to increase member involvement.
The Ethics Award category recognized CFA Society Montréal for its exceptional achievement in ethics and / or advocacy related initiatives with activities. It distinguished itself in promoting ethics to their members and to the broader public as a core value of the society, through impact communication, programming, and advocacy efforts with the Canadian Advocacy Council. The society even organized an Ethics Day, which included a luncheon, employers and AMF visits, and collaboration with other societies.
The Volunteer of the Year Award was given to Montréal’s Janick Boudreau, CFA, Director of Portfolio Management at Otéra Capital. The award recognizes Ms. Boudreau’s outstanding volunteer work with the CFA Society Montréal since 2007. In particular, she served as President of the Board of Directors from July 2011 to June 2013, and at the national level, she served as Chair of the Oversight Committee of the Canadian Advocacy Council and was responsible for the implementation of the Canadian strategic plan.
